Skilled Migrant Visa

This type of visa requires an invitation, so applicants must send an Expression of Interest (EOI), where you claim points for your skills, job and circumstances. This is how the government of New Zealand gets to know you and how you may contribute to the country as a resident. EOIs are generally assessed according to this point based system and if you meet the minimum requirement of points (160) you shall be invited to apply for a Skilled Migrant visa.

You must also be under 55 years of age and be proficient in the English language. The most attractive thing about this type of visa however, is that its validity is indefinite and dependent upon your employment in New Zealand. You may also include your partner and any children under the age of 24 as a part of your application.

If you meet the minimum number of points in relation to your EOI, you will be sent an invitation to apply for this visa in the next few months. Once invited to apply, you shall have four months to submit your application.

There is a priority system in place to sort out applications and if you meet the official requirements your case shall be prioritized. It may take anywhere between 20-23 months to process your application.
